L.A. Choreographers Among Grant Awardees

Choreographer Anthony V. Shay of Los Angeles has been recognized with a $10,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant. Also receiving $7,000 awards were choreographers Mary Jane Eisenberg, Linda J. Sohl-Donnell, Fred Strickler, and Santa Monica’s Raiford C. Rogers.
In all, 86 professional choreographers were awarded a total of $804,000 in federal grants. Known as Choreographers’ Fellowships, the $15,00, $10,000 and $7,000 grants were given to recipients from a pool of 631 applicants and awarded to dancers in 12 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Four three-year fellowships of $45,000 were also awarded.
Fellowship funds can be used for any project or activity that will aid the choreographer’s creative development.
