A federal judge ordered Albert (Ceasar) Tocco, reputed mob boss of the Chicago’s southern suburbs, held without bond on charges of racketeering, extortion and tax evasion. Tocco, 59, was arrested last week at Kennedy International Airport in New York as he arrived on a flight from Greece. He was expelled by Greek authorities after the State Department revoked his passport. Assistant U.S. Atty. Lawrence Rosenthal described Tocco as “a high-ranking member of the Chicago-area LCN (La Cosa Nostra) . . . who has been involved in a number of murders during the last 15 years.” Tocco was indicted in October for allegedly shaking down chop shops, prostitution rings and other criminal enterprises for so-called street taxes.
