Snow showers pelted the upper tier of states from Montana to Minnesota and northern Michigan and wind-whipped squalls slammed northern Vermont. The National Weather Service said snow showers were reported over a wide area that included Montana, Colorado and Wyoming into parts of the Dakotas, Minnesota and northern Michigan. Forecasters said 40 m.p.h. winds accompanied snow squalls at Burlington, Vt.
