Harold J. Hacker; Noted Glass Blower

Harold J. Hacker, 82, a glass blower for 22 years at the Knott’s Berry Farm amusement park whose works are on display at the Smithsonian Institution. Hacker learned to blow glass at age 11 in his native West Virginia. He was hired by the Buena Park theme park in 1948 and remained there until 1970, when he left to form his own business. A glass blower with an international reputation, Hacker invented a special torch tip and has several of his paperweights on display at the Smithsonian in Washington and the Corning Glass Museum in Corning, N.Y. In Buena Park on Jan. 7.
