A yearlong battle between gay groups and NYNEX Information Resources Co., over the firm’s failure to list gay service organizations under their own heading in its major Yellow Pages directories in New England and New York, has been settled. In a joint announcement, the New York State Consumer Protection Board, NYNEX and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said that a new “Social and Human Services” heading would list “gay and lesbian organizations” as well as groups such as those catering to women and the disabled.
