Mudslide Shifts House 10 Feet Off Foundation

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. —
A mudslide pushed a house 10 feet off its foundation Tuesday and forced authorities to evacuate 10 other homes, officials said. It was not known why the hill into which the house was built began shifting, but water from a broken main behind the house might have loosened the mud, said Mark Wolford, Kanawha County public safety director.
