OK, so the thief kept the cash stolen from Rufus Edmisten’s car. But he returned items that the North Carolina secretary of state considered far more valuable--Watergate memorabilia and two Super Bowl tickets. Someone entered Edmisten’s unlocked, state-owned Chevrolet in Raleigh on Saturday and stole a briefcase, a raincoat and $500 to $700. Edmisten reported the theft to police. But on Monday morning, Edmisten found that all the items except the money had been placed in the back seat of his Toyota in front of his house.
