Gerald G. Probst, 65, the veteran computer industry executive who rose through the corporate ranks to become chairman of Sperry Corp. Probst, a decorated World War II pilot, was named chairman and chief executive officer of Sperry in September, 1986, when the $5-billion computer and defense systems company merged with Burroughs Corp. to form Unisys Corp. He retired a few months later but continued to serve as a member of Unisys International’s advisory board. In Salt Lake City on Sunday.
