Pacific Symphony Details 4 Concerts in Chamber Series

After a 1-year hiatus, the Pacific Symphony will revive its chamber music programs with a four-concert series beginning Feb. 5 at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton.

The 3 p.m. program will include Mozart’s Oboe Quartet, K. 370; Dvorak’s “American” String Quartet, and Nick Ariondo’s Arabesque for string quintet and accordion.

Ariondo, a Los Angeles-based composer, will be the accordionist. The center is at 1201 W. Malvern Ave.

Dates and programs for the remaining concerts:

--Feb. 18, 2 p.m. at the Sherman Library and Gardens, 2647 E. Coast Highway in Corona del Mar: Mozart’s Serenade in E-flat, K. 375; Gounod’s Petite Symphonie for Nine Wind Instruments, and Lucas Richman’s “Our Waking Life and a Dream.” Richman is the orchestra’s assistant conductor.

--March 12, 7:30 p.m., Newport Harbor Art Museum: Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, K. 581; Debussy’s Sonata No. 2 for Flute, Viola and Harp, and the premiere of Mark McGurty’s “Untitled” as newly arranged for flute, harp and strings. The orchestra gave the premiere of McGurty’s Piano Concerto in August as part of its summer series at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre.

--April 30, 3 p.m. Dana Point Resort, 25135 Street of the Park Lantern, Dana Point: Works for brass and strings by Monteverdi, Scott Joplin, others.

Tickets for the first three concerts are $12 each. Refreshments will be provided at the April 30 concert; the ticket price has not been set yet.
