Cellist Yo Yo Ma, scheduled to perform a solo recital at Symphony Hall tonight, has canceled the performance. According to Neale Perl of the sponsoring La Jolla Chamber Music Society, the noted cellist left abruptly for Taiwan, where his father had become seriously ill. Perl said the program, which included pianist Emmanuel Ax, will be rescheduled and that ticket holders will be notified by mail.
