So now we have a nicotine addict as drug czar! Never fear, he assures us he plans to cure his problem on his own.

Consistency and the golden rule would, however, require that he accord the same precious liberty (and responsibility) to addicts of other drugs, both more and less damaging to the health. Either that, or he should arrange to have himself arrested for possession and use of a dangerous substance.
