A 25-year-old man who is a suspect in several killings was sentenced Wednesday to state prison for the attempted murder of a prostitute.

Blake Taylor, who prosecutors say may be linked to several slayings of prostitutes in North County, was sentenced by San Diego Superior Court Judge Charles Hayes to nine years to life in prison.

Taylor was found guilty by a jury Dec. 13 of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment involving Irene (Jade) Quinland, 42.

Taylor testified at his trial that he pulled a gun on Quinland after he picked her up on El Cajon Boulevard, but said he only did so to retrieve his $40, because he had changed his mind about having sex with her.

“He was going to kill me. I knew he was. I didn’t lie about that,” Quinland testified at the sentencing hearing.

During the trial, Quinland testified that Taylor demanded that she beg for her life while he pointed a gun at her in his car.
