Group Classes for Training Dogs

Group classes are often the least expensive way to train a dog. The following dog-training clubs offer a series of three 10-week group classes, generally priced at $45, $55 and $60, which teach the basics as well as advanced showmanship such as scent discrimination and jumping.

Valley Hills Obedience Club, the only club in the San Fernando Valley licensed by the American Kennel Club, a registry for purebred dogs and dog shows, has been training dogs at Reseda Park since 1952. The club meets at 7:30 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the basketball court. Call (818) 342-4467.

The Canine Obedience Club meets at 7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays behind the Woodland Hills Cinema on Victory Boulevard and Owensmouth Avenue. Call (818) 888-9994.

The Companion Dog Training Club meets at Studio City Park in North Hollywood in the basketball court and at Shadow Ranch Park in Studio City in front of Vanowen Street on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7. A puppy manners class for dogs under 5 months is also taught at Studio City Park at 7:30 on Tuesday evenings. Call (818) 787-9884.
