CHICAGO —
Twenty-nine suspected members of a Colombian cocaine cartel have been indicted on federal drug charges, accused of using three Chicago-area jewelry stores as distributors, U.S. Atty. Anton Valukas said Friday.
A 101-count indictment named one U.S. citizen and 28 Colombians from Cali. Twenty-four of those indicted were arrested Thursday night and the others were being sought, Valukas said.
The local arm of the Cali cartel allegedly distributed 440 pounds of the drug a month, much of it through the jewelry stores.
