Despite attempts by Syria and Iran to stop the violence, two bombs exploded in Lebanon, resulting in at least one death. Police said one person was killed and 11 were injured, including a Syrian soldier, when a car bomb exploded in the Bekaa Valley town of Barr Elias. The blast set eight parked cars ablaze and damaged 12 stores. In a separate attack, a bomb exploded at a building in Muslim West Beirut near a Syrian army checkpoint, wounding six people, police said. There were no claims of responsibility for the blasts.
