Olympian Mike Holland defended his 90-meter title at the U.S. Ski Jumping Championships, shortened to one round because of erratic winds at Lake Placid, N.Y.

Holland, of Norwich, Vt., jumped 114.5 meters in the first round on the Olympic hill, but fell after going 123 meters on his second try. Officials called for a delay, then ended the meet when wind conditions did not change.

Holland won with 112.0 points to 103.5 for Tad Langlois of Newport, N.H., who jumped 109 meters. Mark Konopacke of Kingsford, Mich., was third, jumping 109 meters for 102.5 points.
