WOMEN ON THE JOB

Share

I was shocked to read a blatant insult to those of us in the teaching profession. Millie Kronfly, an engineer who works on the space shuttle, has done well, according to the article: “Pretty impressive for a woman who once thought she’d become a math teacher.” What’s so terrible about becoming a math teacher? In today’s world, it’s unusual to find college students with math and science majors interested in teaching. They pursue higher pay in other, related fields. They pursue job satisfaction in areas where an employee gets promoted or can strive for a raise based on merit.

Yes, Kronfly has achieved success. Americans need talented and dedicated teachers, too. A space shuttle holds still while you’re working on it; people don’t!
