West Point-Pepperell Inc. said it is talking with third parties interested in buying the textile company, the target of a $1.4-billion hostile takeover attempt by Farley Inc. of Chicago. In an amendment of its response to the Farley offer filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Pepperell said it continues to maintain that the company is not for sale “but is continuing to review . . . various financial alternatives to the offer.”
