USC Women Lose to Washington State

Forward Jonni Gray scored three 3-point baskets in the first half on her way to a 30-point game to lead Washington State past USC, 85-69, Sunday in Pacific 10 Conference women’s basketball at Pullman, Wash.

USC (6-11 overall, 2-5 in the Pac-10) outshot Washington State in the first half, 41% to 40%, but the Cougars’ consistency from the line (6 of 7) along with four 3-point baskets helped them take a 44-33 lead at halftime.

Cherie Nelson and Teresa Strickland came off the bench to score 28 and 11 points, respectively, for USC. Angie Miller added 16 points for Washington State, (10-8, 3-5).
