Colombian anti-narcotics police have destroyed eight cocaine laboratories and are dynamiting about 100 clandestine runways in a major anti-drug offensive, the national police chief, Gen. Miguel Gomez Padilla, told Bogota’s RCN radio station. About 100 police officers in eight helicopter gunships destroyed eight drug laboratories in a region less than 120 miles northwest of the capital last weekend, he said. They also seized 1.16 metric tons of refined cocaine as well as chemicals used to make the drug.
