W. Los Angeles : $100,000 Grant for Veloway
The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission has given a $100,000 grant to the West Los Angeles Veloway, a two-mile elevated bike path that would connect the UCLA campus to Westside communities such as Palms and Brentwood.
The money will go to pay for design and engineering costs, said Executive Director Ryan Snyder. The project, which has been in the planning stages for five years, has already received funds from the UCLA School of Engineering and Los Angeles County. Snyder said promoters are awaiting the results of an Environmental Impact Report, which is expected this spring. If approved, the project is expected to cost $7 million to $10 million.
