Re Daniel Cariaga’s Jan. 15 article, “How Occasional Should a Guest Conductor Be?”: Some of the figures are a bit misleading.

While I indeed do 13 weeks of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s subscription concerts (there are only 24, not 37), I do four or five weeks of touring with the orchestra and usually one or two weeks of the chamber orchestra series, in addition to special event concerts and recordings. Therefore, during the course of the entire 37-week season, the orchestra sees me for at least 18 and usually 20 or 21 weeks.
