Amnesty International, which has been trying since its founding in 1960 to get into the Soviet Union to investigate human rights abuses, has been invited for a visit, the Guardian newspaper of Britain reported. The paper said the group had written to Moscow to discuss the timing of the visit. Officials of the London-based human rights organization were not available to confirm the report. The organization said in October that it had information on 150 Soviets “imprisoned solely for the nonviolent exercise of their fundamental human rights.” The Kremlin says it no longer has any political prisoners.
