THE CRUELTY QUESTION
“The Cruelty Question” was badly marred by writer Vicki Hearne’s bias and poor research, but Hearne made one statement that is undoubtedly true. She said: “They (animal trainers) welcome the presence of an agency such as the American Humane Assn. on the set.”
Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Coalition to Protect Animals in Entertainment recently secured the primary statements, facts and key exhibits concerning the “Project X” investigation, conducted by the Los Angeles Department of Animal Regulation. According to City of Los Angeles investigators, the American Humane Assn. went so far as to lie in several instances, apparently in an effort to deceive the public about the animal cruelty that occurred during the production of the film.
If AHA is willing to lie for them, it should come as no surprise that animal trainers welcome AHA on the set.
One of the goals of the Coalition to Protect Animals in Entertainment is to have AHA replaced as the protector of entertainment animals.
