Local News in Brief : Sun Valley Man, 78, Found After 2 Days

A 78-year-old Sun Valley man who had been missing since Friday was found Sunday night afterhe called a friend’s home.

Bruce William McEntire looked about “an inch from being homeless” when he was found at Tampa Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard, according to his son, Chuck McEntire. He had spent the last two days doing “a lot of driving and sitting in his car”, said his daughter, Nancy McEntire.

Bruce McEntire called a friend, Sherree Herts, after looking up her number in the phone book about 9 p. m. Herts kept him on the phone while Chuck McEntire went to fetch him.

McEntire has been losing his memory and growing disoriented in recent years, said Nancy McEntire. McEntire, a crossing guard at Noble Avenue School in Sepulveda, has been living with his daughter since Jan.1.

He had last been seen Friday about 9 p.m. driving on Nordhoff Street in Northridge, following his estranged wife in another car after they had had dinner.
