Nearly half the companies in a national survey plan to increase their capital spending this year, more than in the past two years, Dun & Bradstreet Corp. said. About 46% of the 5,000 companies surveyed planned higher spending in 1989, reflecting the strength of the economy, according to Joseph W. Duncan, Dun & Bradstreet’s corporate economist. In contrast, 33% had projected higher spending for 1987 and 41% for 1988.
