Acting School Superintendent Gets Fullerton Job Full Time

The Board of Trustees of the Fullerton Joint Union High School District on Tuesday night named J. Kenneth Jones superintendent of the 11,000-student district.

Jones, 51, had been acting superintendent after former superintendent Robert C. Martin retired last June. He was chosen from among 48 candidates.

Jones was deputy superintendent before becoming acting superintendent in the district, which has six high schools, one continuation high school and an alternative education program. As superintendent, he will head a management staff of 40 and more than 1,000 employees. His salary will be $83,089.

Previously, Jones was assistant superintendent for business and instructional services in the Capistrano Valley Unified School District and director of instruction in the Huntington Beach High School District, where he was also coordinator of work experience. He also was a business education teacher for the La Puente High School District.

He received his bachelor’s degree in business education, his master’s degree in educational administration from Cal State Long Beach and is completing his dissertation for a doctorate in school management at La Verne College in La Verne.

Jones and his wife, Jan, live in Huntington Beach. They have seven adult children and two grandchildren.
