World : Marcos Irked by Pestering on Money
Ferdinand E. Marcos has ruled out any deals as the price for coming home and asked President Corazon Aquino to tell her relatives “to stop bothering him about money matters,” an opposition senator said today.
Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile said the ailing ex-president made the statement to Vice President Salvador Laurel in Hawaii last week and asked that the message be relayed to Aquino. Laurel had told reporters Saturday that he was carrying secret messages for Aquino from the hospitalized Marcos. Aquino refused to see Laurel, and he has not disclosed the messages.
