Concerts by the Berlin Radio Symphony conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy and the Orchester der Beethovenhalle Bonn led by Dennis Russell Davies will be among 25 events presented by the Orange County Philharmonic Society in 1989-90 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.

Both orchestras will be making Orange County debuts, as will the Frankfurt Radio Symphony conducted by Eliahu Inbal and the Hanover Band of London led by concertmaster Roy Goodman.

Soloists new to Orange County will be pianists Walter Klein and Stephen Hough and violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter (in an appearance rescheduled from the society’s 1988-89 season).

A program by the Hungarian Folk Ensemble will mark the first time the society has presented a major international ethnic music and dance company.

Recitals will be given by baritone Thomas Hampson, guitarist Christopher Parkening and pianist Vladimir Viardo.

And in a non-subscription concert to benefit the society’s youth programs, P.D.Q. Bach (a.k.a. Peter Schickele) will perform.

Repertory will be announced.

Four series of programs will be offered. Tickets will be available to society subscribers in March and to the general public in April. For information, call (714) 642-8232.
