Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney plans a fresh attempt to seek an acid rain treaty with the United States when he meets President Bush in Ottawa on Friday, according to Canadian officials. In his first trip abroad since taking office, Bush will hold an informal meeting with Mulroney to discuss a topics that also include trade, defense and foreign affairs. But Canadian officials stressed that Mulroney, who led his Progressive Conservative Party to a second consecutive majority government in November, will be renewing his quest for action on the thorny acid rain issue.
