Yields on 30-year Treasury bonds fell at the latest auction to the lowest level since August, 1987. The average yield was 8.91%, down from 9.10% at the last auction on Nov. 17, 1988. It was the lowest rate since 30-year bonds averaged 8.89% on Aug. 13, 1987. The bonds will carry a coupon interest rate of 8.875%, with each $10,000 in face value selling for $9,963.60. A total of $9.5 billion in bonds was sold out of bids totaling $17.2 billion.
