Folsom Prison officials said a convicted murderer who escaped through a storm drain more than 1 1/2 years ago has been arrested in Mexico. Lt. Cammy Voss said the FBI notified the prison that Glen S. Godwin, 30, was arrested in Puerto Vallarta, on drug charges. Voss said Godwin had been using the alias of Stewart Carrera, but his true identity was confirmed by his fingerprints. Godwin was being held in a Guadalajara prison pending extradition proceedings. Godwin was serving a sentence of 26 years to life for the first-degree murder of a Riverside County man when he escaped June 5, 1987. He slipped out of the prison by cutting security bars on a storm drain, then used an inflatable rubber raft left by his wife and another accomplice to cross the nearby American River. According to trial testimony, Godwin stabbed the man 26 times in an attempt to steal drugs.
