Mixing It Up With Peter Sellars
Los Angeles is far from being a stage of cultural diversity, and the evidence of this is in Calendar’s theater listings. Count the productions in any Sunday edition and you will find an abundance of Euro-American plays versus very few minority pieces.
As a Latin playwright, I believe one of the problems is the constant creation of well intentioned “workshops” and “projects” that seem to ignore the fully developed writer in search of translation. Latin America may be short of money but not of intellect.
