The public is invited to attend a free forum, “Catastrophic Medicare Coverage for 1989,” Wednesday.
The forum, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., is being presented for the American Assn. of Retired Persons, El Toro branch. It is sponsored by the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program and funded by the California Department of Aging.
A speaker will provide information on the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988, which added benefits such as respite care and outpatient prescription drug coverage.
“The elderly themselves pay for the expanded coverage this law provides, so if we let these new benefit costs get out of control, we will hurt the very people we are trying to help today,” a spokesman for the program said.
The forum will be held in the second-floor meeting room of Glendale Savings & Loan, 24221 Calle de la Louisa. For reservations, call Julie Schoen at (714) 639-4962.
