Macy Names President of Unit in Charge of Bullock’s

R. H. Macy & Co. announced that Joseph Berzok, a vice chairman of Batus and a former Macy’s executive, has been named president of Macy’s South/Bullock’s, the Atlanta-based division that oversees the 22-unit Bullock’s department store chain.

He will replace Rudolph Borneo, who becomes president of Macy’s California in San Francisco, a position that has been vacant for a little over a year. The changes are effective April 15.

Berzok joined Macy’s New York in 1958 as an executive assistant, labor relations, and worked his way up through many executive posts in the Bamberger’s division. In 1983, he left to become vice chairman of Batus, the U.S. arm of a British company that owns Saks Fifth Avenue and Marshall Field’s.

Borneo began his Macy’s career in 1964 as a member of Bamberger’s training squad. He became president of Macy’s South/Bullock’s after Macy’s bought Bullock’s last May and merged it with the Macy’s South division.
