Week Expected to Be Cold but Sunny

Share

A mixture of sunshine and low temperatures is expected the rest of the week, the National Weather Service says.

Despite showers last night, no rain is in sight, but the latest cold surge from Alaska has the nightly temperatures dipping into the 30s, forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said. Agricultural areas, such as Valley Center, Escondido and Bonsall, are preparing for lows in the mid-20s.

The nippy lows have caused enough concern for the weather service to issue a frost advisory for tonight and Wednesday. Forecasters believe the northern cold air will keep things chilly throughout the week.

“The temperatures are struggling,” Shigehara said. “The cold winds are coming down to keep us cool.”

Coastal and inland temperatures will reach 58 to 62 degrees today, with the mercury rising slightly Wednesday and Thursday. The nightly lows will drop to 30 to 40 and into the lower 20s in agricultural areas.

Mountain areas can expect highs from 37 to 43, with lows in the 20s. Desert highs will reach 58 to 65, with lows in the 30s tonight and Wednesday.
