A group of veterans who went back to Vietnam to come to terms with their wartime experiences came home Monday to a hero’s welcome.

About 30 family members and friends were on hand to provide a boisterous reception for the eight veterans, two counselors and a film maker who arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after a two-week sojourn to the land most had found too painful to forget.

“Landing in Hanoi, they gave us a better greeting than we originally got when we came home,” said Bill Koutrouba, 46, a former Army medic. The group toured the country mainly by bus.
