G. Lane Barnett has been appointed first vice president, director of product development and marketing, for Coldwell Banker Residential Group, Newport Beach. He will direct all national marketing activities, including advertising, public relations, research and product development for the company’s more than 2,100 residential real estate offices in the United States and Canada. Barnett succeeds Robert A. Rist, who has rejoined Sears, Roebuck & Co.’s merchandise group as a national merchandise manager. Barnett was formerly senior vice president, director of marketing and advertising, for Jim Beam Brands Co. in Chicago. Before that, he held senior management positions with Royal Crown Cola Co., Mid-Continent Bottlers Inc. and Continental Can Co.
