Although the number of single-family home permits issued dropped between November and December, there were 23% more such permits issued during 1988 than 1987--based mostly on the strength of the January-June period. Nearly two-third of the permits were issued during the first six months. The most conspicuous growth took place in the county’s unincorporated areas and in the cities of Yorba Linda and Huntington Beach. Irvine and Orange showed the largest declines.
