Transamerica Corp.’s earnings dropped 19% to $346.4 million for the year. The San Francisco insurance and finance company noted that 1987 figures were boosted by $76 million from the sale of aircraft and equipment by Transamerica’s discontinued air travel operation. The company also said it has been hurt by a wave of price-cutting in the insurance industry.
