Norwalk : Cerritos College Trustee Named Woman of Year
Assemblyman Bob Epple (D-Norwalk) has named Cerritos College board member Ada Steenhoek woman of the year in the 63rd Assembly District for being “such an outstanding member of our community.”
Steenhoek has served on the Cerritos College board since 1985, and is a special-education instructor for the Downey Unified School District. A long-time Downey resident and mother of 10 children, Steenhoek has been active in many community organizations, including the Boy Scouts.
“Ada’s dedication to and hard work on the college board demonstrates her commitment to education and the betterment of our community,” Epple said. “Her work with children and teen-agers has also been a great benefit and contribution to our area.”
The 63rd District includes Artesia, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, Santa Fe Springs, almost all of Norwalk and parts of Lakewood, unincorporated Whittier and Long Beach.
