Allan Wells of England, former Olympic sprint champion, warned six-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis to stop accusing other athletes of taking drugs, adding: “I would not be surprised if one day his halo slipped and choked him.”

In a column in the March edition of Scotland’s Runner magazine, Wells accused Lewis of riding a “snowy white chariot against drugs” and bringing all athletes under suspicion.

Wells said that Lewis also had faced drug accusations after winning his first Olympic 100-meter race in 1984 in Los Angeles.

Wells said: “Not only is he a sore loser, but he also has a short memory.”

Wells dared Lewis to “back up his statements with proof.”
