Question: What are the latest decor trends in kitchen remodeling?

Answer: According to the January issue of Remodeling Magazine, the following is “in”:

Big, eat-in kitchens; sleek, black-and-white Euro-style appliances; refrigerators with panel doors flush with the cabinets; wine coolers; induction cook tops; hardwood floors; fake granite and marble counters and glass-fronted cabinets.

In bathrooms, the “in” items are views out of the bathroom, separate shower and tub, whirlpools, pedestal sinks, his and her vanities, glass blocks and ceramic tile.

Q: We are going through a remodeling project and I am quite upset with the workmen. When they take their lunch break, they leave questionable magazines lying around, along with soda pop and beer cans and other trash.

They also keep on telling me that they will be back on Saturdays to do some work and they seldom show up. When they do show up, they bring their girlfriends or their wives. One of the subcontractors has got a problem with his truck and it leaks oil all over my driveway.

A: I suggest that you talk with the general contractor and get him to straighten out his workers.

The general contractor may not know that some of his employees or subcontractors are acting in this manner. If your contractor’s workers are doing this, I suggest that you very firmly tell him of your displeasure.

Q: I understand there is a tinting film applied to windows that also acts as a security film on broken glass.

A: ArmorCoat security films act both as sun-resistant products and add security. The product, being much thicker than ordinary tinting film, is more than just a sun screen, offering an affordable source of security.

Although the glass can be broken, they tell me that it is nearly impossible to penetrate the glass. The product provides energy efficiency and is good protection for earthquake safety, since it will prevent shards of glass from flying through the air.
