Alhambra : Opposition to Drug Center
The City Council voted 5 to 0 Monday to oppose plans by a private health service firm to locate a methadone maintenance and detoxification center near residential neighborhoods in Alhambra.
The methadone treatment center, proposed for a site at 5401 Valley Blvd. in Los Angeles by Altamed Health Services Corp., would be 3/10 of a mile west of Alhambra’s city limit.
Up to 300 heroin addicts a day may seek treatment at the center, according to a memorandum written by Police Chief Russ Siverling.
