10-K Walk Slated Saturday to Raise Money for Hungry
Several hundred harbor area residents will take part in a 10-kilometer walk around Point Fermin Saturday to raise money for the hungry.
The ninth annual Los Angeles Harbor Hunger Walk, sponsored by an interdenominational group of churches, will begin at 10 a.m. at Point Fermin Park.
The walkers have raised as much as $25,000 in previous years. This year, 25% of the proceeds will go to local charities and the remainder will be distributed nationally by Church World Service, which sponsors similar walks across the country.
