A federal magistrate in St. Paul, Minn., denied a motion by convicted spy Jonathan Pollard’s wife for an independent medical examination and treatment, as well as her request to be transferred from the Federal Medical Center in Rochester. Magistrate Janice Symchych also denied Anne Henderson-Pollard’s motions for further hearings, medical furlough and removal of 24-hour surveillance at the medical center. Henderson-Pollard, 28, who has several medical problems, alleged in a lawsuit against the Rochester facility that what she called inadequate care had amounted to cruel and unusual punishment. She is serving two concurrent five-year prison terms on charges related to her husband’s spy activities.
