Hewlett-Packard to Buy 5% of 3Com of Santa Clara

Hewlett-Packard Co. says it will acquire as much as 5% of the stock of 3Com Corp., a Santa Clara computer networking company.

The giant electronics firm, which sells a range of computers as well as test and measurement equipment, also said it will develop and market software with 3Com.
