CALIFORNIA - News from March 8, 1989

Levi Strauss Associates Inc., San Francisco, the privately held parent company of Levi Strauss & Co., has announced three senior-level management changes. Thomas W. Tusher becomes president and chief operating officer of Levi Strauss & Co. and is elected to the board of the parent company. Former President Robert D. Haas is now chairman and retains his current chief executive responsibilities. Peter E. Haas, chairman since 1981, becomes chairman of the executive committee.
