Tally of Teachers Vote Due
Results of balloting by members of the teachers union will be counted Friday, although results might not be available until Monday, union officials said. The teachers turned out in large numbers at 600 schools on Tuesday to decide on the latest contract proposal by the Los Angeles Unified School District, which offered a 20% to 24% pay raise over three years. The union is demanding a 21% raise over two years and has urged the teachers to reject the latest offer.
