Man, 50, Dies in Diving Accident
A 50-year-old Huntington Beach man was pronounced dead at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach on Saturday after a diving accident at Emerald Bay north of Laguna Beach.
Officials said Clyde E. Barrett was diving from a boat with several friends when he surfaced and asked others to help him onto the boat. He then went limp. Crewmen on a Harbor Patrol boat and Huntington Beach paramedics attempted unsuccessfully to revive him.
The incident occurred shortly before noon, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
